This course is for you if you are a:

  • New or soon-to-be supervisors of a construction site.

What you'll learn

You will learn how to:

  • Describe how your role influences workers to behave safely.
  • Describe how to have positive conversations with workers.
  • Identify and meet your legal duties as a supervisor.
  • describe how applying the principles of adult learning help effectively train others to become safe and competent workers.
  • Plan jobs so that safety is convenient and natural for workers to do.
  • Explain the importance of investigating accidents and finding out the root causes of accidents.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the emergency planning process.

At the end of the course, you'll need to complete and submit a take home assignment within 3 months of attending the course.

If you pass, you will be issued a digital Site Safety Card with the green foundation indicator, valid for 2 years.

What you'll get

On successful completion of the course, you'll receive:

  • A Site Safety Card, valid for 2 years. Most major New Zealand contractors require workers to have a valid Site Safety Card before entering a construction site.
  • 16 Licensed Building Practitioner points.
  • 10 credits towards our Health and Safety in Construction certificate programme.
  • NZQA Unit Standard 21970- Improve building or construction site safety through changed work practices, actions and attitudes - level 4, 6 NZQA credits
  • A downloadable and printable e-certificate.

Cancellations and refunds

You can cancel or change a booking up to 5 working days before the start of the course. If you cancel more than 5 days before the start of the course, you will receive a credit on your account to be used within 12 months, or you (or your employer, if they paid for the course) can request a refund by:

Refunds are usually processed in 7 to 14 days.

Within 5 working days of the course starting, you can transfer your seat to another person from the same company. If you cancel, you or your employer will not get a refund.

Changes and cancellations can be made through your account, or through your employer if they booked you on the course.
