SiteWise Surpasses 7,000 Member Milestone

Early 2021 saw Sitewise hit 7,000 members, and there are no signs of slowing down.
Sifting through the rubble in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquakes, considering the mammoth rebuild effort that lay ahead of them, key construction stakeholders saw a need to make work sites safer than ever.
Christchurch-based Site Safe Group Manager of Customer Strategy and Support, Andrew Confait, says there was a real drive from key players to be able to better understand and compare health and safety capabilities among potential contractors.
“There was an almost immediate shift in focus; a spotlight was put on health and safety because the last thing anyone wanted was further injury or death resulting from the rebuild effort.”
Enter SiteWise, an online contractor prequalification system. SiteWise is a simple way for contractors to demonstrate their focus on health and safety practices, and for companies seeking contractors to benchmark them against one another.
Starting as AppCon, and backed by the Canterbury Rebuild Safety Charter, SiteWise was relaunched in its current form in 2015. Since then, it has seen consistently rapid growth, passing 7,000 members earlier this year.
SiteWise Manager, Nigel Palmer, sees no signs of slowing down as SiteWise grows in accuracy and usefulness with an ever-increasing pool of information and history.
“Main contractors now have a huge database of potential subbies with good insight into their health and safety performance over time. For subbies, they are picking up work where they may not have otherwise been considered, because they’ve scored well in their prequal.
“We look forward to seeing how SiteWise changes in the future. To keep the development happening, we will continue to listen to our users to better understand what it needs to be and how we can achieve this”.
