Changes to ACC discounts

27 Sep 2016

ACC is making changes to its discount programmes which could affect your business.

As of April 1, 2017, ACC is scrapping its Workplace Safety Discount (WSD) and Workplace Safety Management Practices (WSMP) programmes and moving to a performance-based system which it believes will better reward businesses which reduce injuries.

Businesses currently using the WSD and WSMP products are eligible to extend their contracts but ACC will only accept memberships that are processed and accepted before April 1, 2017.

ACC recommends sending in a renewal application before October 31, 2016, as they expect an influx of applications.

If your application is accepted your discounts will run until June 30, 2019.

Some important things to note:

  • Complete your application carefully, as incomplete applications will go to the back of the queue upon resubmission.
  • Audit appointments will be limited
  • The 30-day period to address audit issues has been shortened to five days.
  • If you do not extend your contract, your discount will run until the expiry of your current term.

ACC is currently consulting on the new experience rating incentives which are likely to replace WSD and WSMP.

Site Safe will be making a submission on behalf of its members.

The consultation period runs until October 19.
