You must have completed a Foundation course before booking this Passport Plus course.

What you'll learn

You will learn how to:

• Keep yourself healthy and safe onsite.
• Recognise what roles influence the actions or workers.
• Make health and safety positive through conversation.

This course includes a 2 hour in-class session and access to 2 online modules (Each modules takes approximately 20 minutes to complete).

Choose any 2 modules:

• Asbestos Awareness: Identify health risks, locations, and actions to take.
• Noise: Understand hearing damage, legal obligations, and high-risk equipment.
• Worker Basics: Learn about fatigue, drugs & alcohol, stress, and hazard identification.
• Manual Handling: Recognise potential injuries, control methods, and harm reduction strategies.
• Mobile Plant: Identify risks when working with or near mobile equipment (focuses on hazard identification, training, and site planning).
• Electrical Safety: Understand electrical dangers and how to stay safe around electricity (basic awareness).
• Consultant Modules:
  • Legislation
  • Influencing safety in design.

Plus In-Class Session (2 Hours):

• Develop a positive safety culture through communication.
• Understand essential health & safety principles.
• Recognise basic workplace risks and responsibilities.
• Improving health and safety awareness onsite.

At the end of the course, you'll complete a Review of Understanding. This is a set of multiple-choice questions that check your understanding of the key concepts learned during the course.

If you pass, you will be issued a digital Site Safety Card, valid for 2 years.

What you'll get

On completion of the course requirements, you’ll receive:

• A Site Safety Card, valid for 2 years. Most major New Zealand contractors require workers to have a valid Site Safety Card before entering a construction site.
• 4 Licensed Building Practitioner points.
• 3 credits towards our Health and Safety in Construction certificate programme.

Next learning steps

You'll need to complete another Site Safe course every 2 years to keep your Site Safety Card current.

To complete this course, you need to be able to read and understand English.

If you miss the course

If you don't attend a course you're signed up for, we will notify the person who purchased the course. They will not be entitled to a refund.

Cancellations and refunds

You can cancel or change a booking up to 5 working days before the start of the course. If you cancel more than 5 days before the start of the course, you will receive a credit on your account to be used within 12 months, or you (or your employer, if they paid for the course) can request a refund by:

• completing the Refund Request Form
• emailing it to us at accountspayable@sitesafe.org.nz.

Refunds are usually processed in 7 to 14 days.

Within 5 working days of the course starting, you can transfer your seat to another person from the same company. If you cancel, you or your employer will not get a refund.

Changes and cancellations can be made through your account, or through your employer if they booked you on the course.
